Each assignment is different, and payment varies from compensation for your time, to full reimbursement for goods or services purchased as part of the assignment.
Please read the following general information carefully, before applying to be an Evaluator with HOED Research NZ Ltd.
How Does the Survey Allocations Process Work?
The process for survey allocation at HOED RESEARCH is straightforward. Once you have signed up and completed your profile, you can view available surveys on the Job Board. You can search for surveys in your area or in another area if you are going on holiday. If you would like to complete a survey, you can apply for it via the Job Board. Please be sure to add a note when applying for a survey.
When you apply for a survey, you will need to specify a date that you intend to complete the survey. If accepted for the survey, you can change the specified date once. Thereafter, you need to contact the HOED RESEARCH Team regarding the date/deadline. The HOED RESEARCH Team will review all applications and accept or decline applications.
If your application is approved, you will need to accept the survey in your portal. Once you do, you will be able to see the Job instructions and the survey in your portal. Please ensure you read the job instructions and the survey thoroughly before you complete the visit. Failure to do so may result in the visit not being completed correctly, which could mean that we are unable to pay you for the survey.
You must submit your survey within 24 hours of completing the visit. Upon submission of your survey, we will check for consistency, basic grammar, and overall completeness. If there are any issues to clarify, we will contact you directly. Surveys must not be completed with children under the age of 16 years.
Survey times vary, but on average, you can expect to spend 15-45 minutes completing a survey. For meals or other detailed surveys, it can take longer. Survey fees will be specified in each survey on the Job Board. However, on average, this can range from $23.00 – $80.00 for a standard survey and more for a longer and more complex survey. All purchase surveys will require a receipt to be uploaded to the portal with your completed questionnaire.
Payment of completed surveys will be processed within seven days after the month is completed.
As an independent Contractor, you will be required to declare any extra income earned at the end of each financial year.

What is the situation regarding tax?
- You are responsible for your own tax obligations.
- We recommend you seek accounting and/or financial advice regarding your tax obligations.
How much work will I get?
This will vary from month to month and depends on where you live or work, and your shopping areas. When an Assignment comes up in your area we will contact you. Assignments vary in frequency and number. Clients typically have their stores surveyed monthly, quarterly, semi-annually or on an “as-needed” basis.
How far will I be asked to travel?
- The location of the assignments offered to you will depend on the areas you list in your application when you sign up with HOED. The areas you are willing to shop need to be clearly listed in your profile.
- Some jobs do attract travel cost re-imbursement, these will be clearly identified as such when being offered to you.
